Electrical Motors and Generators

An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between the motor’s magnetic field and electric current in a wire winding to generate force in the form of torque applied on the motor’s shaft. Electric motors can be powered by direct current (DC) sources, such as from batteries, motor vehicles or rectifiers, or by alternating current (AC) sources, such as a power grid, inverters or electrical generators. An electric generator is mechanically identical to an electric motor, but operates with a reversed flow of power, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy.

AC Motors

An AC motor is an electric motor driven by an alternating current (AC).

Induction motors:

An induction motor or asynchronous motor is an AC electric motor in which the electric current in the rotor needed to produce torque is obtained by electromagnetic induction from the magnetic field of the stator winding.[1] An induction motor can therefore be made without electrical connections to the rotor.

Isynchronous motors :

A synchronous electric motor is an AC motor in which, at steady state, the rotation of the shaft is synchronized with the frequency of the supply current.

DC Motors

A DC motor is any of a class of rotary electrical motors that converts direct current electrical energy into mechanical energy.

Brake motor

A motor brake is a type of brake designed to work with a motor to stop and hold the motor and its driven load. The brake can be one of several basic types. A brake motor is a combined brake and motor package, usually bolted together through mating C-face flanges.

servomotor

A servomotor is a rotary actuator or linear actuator that allows for precise control of angular or linear position, velocity and acceleration. It consists of a suitable motor coupled to a sensor for position feedback. It also requires a relatively sophisticated controller, often a dedicated module designed specifically for use with servomotors.

alternator generator

An alternator is an electrical generator that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy in the form of alternating current.

dynamos generator

A dynamo is an electrical generator that creates direct current using a commutator.
